BT ISDN and PSTN, and what you need to know | Glasgow & Edinburgh

Written by Mairi Wilson | Jun 21, 2019 8:00:28 AM

Back in 2014, BT Openreach announced that they would be ending the traditional phone services provided via ISDN and PSTN services by 2025. They will start reducing services dramatically in 2020 and businesses will not be able to purchase new ISDN products from then. Businesses across Britain will need to migrate to new telephony services by 2025. Technology has moved on dramatically since these older services were introduced. Modern technology allows businesses to move beyond the limitations of traditional phone systems to enjoy increased functionality of new systems, often at a cheaper price.

Some of the key benefits are:

  • Cost reduction – there are no setup fees, no line rental and you are not tied into long term contracts. The systems are easily scalable, when you are ready to grow.
  • Flexibility – virtual phone systems allow your team to work anywhere in the world, from the same phone number. You can keep the same number no matter where you are and link a number of devices to one number.
  • Business continuity and disaster recovery ready – you can easily divert calls to other office, mobiles etc.
  • Increased functionality – enjoy click to call on your webpage, find me follow me, get voicemail by email, call queuing and recording etc
