Grants of up to £1000 for charities
A Cyber Grants Scheme has been launched in Scotland to help charities improve their defences against cyber threats. The grant scheme will contribute towards the cost of preparing for Cyber Essentials certification and the cost of accreditation. Cyber Essentials is a UK Government backed accreditation, which requires 5 key controls to be implemented and will drastically reduce the risk of cyber-attacks. The scheme is administered by the National Cyber Security Centre and is increasingly being required for government tenders etc. The Information Commissioners Office which oversees GDPR in the UK promotes Cyber Essentials as a good first step towards addressing cyber security risks.
How to apply:
The Cyber Grants Scheme is being run by Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations on behalf of the Scottish Government. Charities can receive up to £1000 towards the cost of Cyber Essentials accreditation.
To be eligible you must have a contracted IT Supplier or in-house IT staff and an annual income of less than £4 million.
The deadline for applications is 18 December 2018, you can apply here.
