Scottish Digital Skills concerns

Thursday, 29 November 2018

A new report finds that almost half of Scottish businesses are vulnerable to cyber scams and lack basic digital skills. The recent Bank of Scotland Business and Charity Index reports that there has been an increase in the number of Scottish businesses which are online but over 40% have not adequately protected their assets against cybercrime with 44% lacking digital skills.

While the figures on capacity around digital skills of workers in SMEs, have grown substantially since 2015 there is still room for development through increasing skills around digital technology. New technologies including cloud IT, online software packages for accounting and HR, digital telecommunications and many more, offer a springboard to growth. Businesses could benefit from focusing on the opportunities available to boost productivity and cut costs using the digital technology available.

The pace of change and sheer volume of new digital products and ‘solutions’ available can be overwhelming – and mistakes in this area can be costly. If you need guidance on navigating the best route for business, then your managed service IT support provider can have a central role to play. We develop close, long term, working relationships with all of our IT support customers, steering them to the technology which will help them capitalise on the great opportunities which are constantly emerging.
